The Team

Stephen

(BSc (Hons) MCOptom, FBDO (Honours) LVA) Optometrist

Stephen has been the head of Woodhouse Opticians since he took over from his father, Leslie in 1985. Stephen first qualified as a dispensing optician from City and East London College and began working at Woodhouse Opticians with his father, he later acquired an LVA diploma before attending Aston University where he graduated with honours as an Ophthalmic Optician. Stephen’s passion for optics is unparalleled and he would freely admit he geeks out with any new piece of technology, recently investing in the Optomap and Myopia master. Stephen loves to chat with his patients fostering a friendly, accessible and clinical relationship with them, making hima  trusting and familiar face for generations of families.

Sukie

Practice Manager, Director

Sukie joined the practice as a director in 2001. In 2019 she began working for Woodhouse Opticians full time as a practice manager. Sukie specialises in championing the practice’s continued sustainability journey, also acting as the Strategic Sustainability Lead for SightCare Services. Thanks to her degree in Art History from the University of Northumbria is a pro at helping patients choose their perfect pair of glasses. Sukie has also been a SightCare board member for five years, is a school governor of three separate governing bodies, and was the chair of the BFN for five years; if anyone knows leadership, it’s Sukie.

Abi

Dispensing Optician

Abi is the longest serving member of the team (apart from Stephen) and a familiar, friendly face for many of our long term patients, Abi studied as a DO whilst working full time at Woodhouse Opticians. Abi has an eye for style and a vast experience of fitting the perfect frame. Her lens knowledge is constantly updating and she also specialises in pediatric dispensing, her lovely manner instantly putting young patients at ease. As well as being an incredible DO Abi also specialises in dry eye and contact lens care. Abi is an expert at helping patients pick out their frames, never pressuring the patients to make a choice and working closely with their thoughts on different styles.

Lynsey

Dispensing Optician, HAD

Lynsey joined the practice a year and a half ago and has brought a fresh approach to the team, with her long experience working for the multiples, she embraces the chance to spend time with patients and get to understand fully their requirements from lenses and spectacle choices. Lynsey specialises in anything spectacle related, she enjoys a challenge and learning new skills, so bring it on! She is dynamic, conscientious, understanding, and loves a stylish frame as long as it has some pink on it! Lynsey also specialises in hearing aid dispensing, a service we have now added to our roster, check out the audiology section to find out more!

Mia

Optical Assistant and Social Media and Marketing

Mia has been a member of the practice since 2022, and has recently taken control of the social media and marketing for the practice. This year she has become a more hands on member of the team, assisting wherever she can to help the practice run as smoothly as possible.
