Good eye health – start them young
Good habits, start young, or so they say.
As an optician’s practice we have devoted years to encouraging people to take care of their eyesight. We firmly believe developing a proactive attitude to eye health education is really important.
When we heard that World Sight Day this year would have the theme #LoveYourEyes we wanted to do something that would encourage people to take action. Better still, we wanted to help instil the notion of good eye health in our youngest patients.
After racking the collective Woodhouse brains, we came up with what we believe is a very attractive offer.
The OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) scanner is an invaluable piece of kit in the practice. It presents a 3D image that allows us to see what’s going on beneath the surface of the eye.
It can enable us to spot problems earlier and get started on a course of treatment or correction before a condition worsens.
Peace of mind
We recommend an OCT scan with your eye test, even if your vision and eye health appear fine. We often see patients over many years. It’s highly useful to have a baseline image, so we can monitor any changes over a period of time.
As part of our commitment to offering the best care to all our patients, we are now offering an OCT scan for four to 16-year-olds for just £10.
It’s quick, simple and unobtrusive. We can book it at the same time as a regular NHS eye examination and we can go through the results at the consultation.
For parents we hope this offer can provide some additional peace of mind. Not only does having an OCT provide that more in-depth investigation of the eye which can be compared against similar tests in years to come. But it’s helping establish a routine of good eye health, passing on the vital message to #LoveYourEyes.
(*) Unlimited OCT scans for adults are included in our EyeCare plans or one can be booked alongside an eye examination for £39.
